During a double media lesson we watched my week with Marilyn, I generally found the film average but at some parts it was interesting. I will be looking at the representation in gender in the film and decide which gender is superior in the film.

Representation of women seems to come across as they are the most important people such as Marilyn. The film is based around her and people seem to change there plans just to keep her happy, for example when she keeps wanting to see Colin everyone does what they can in order to get Colin to go see Marilyn. The majority of the time it was at night this shows us that men have to do everything in their control to keep the women happy. Another thing is whilst women are young they seem to get more male attraction. When movie stars are young all the men fantasise over how attractive these female actresses but as they get older like Vivien Leigh in the film they get more respect of the public for there outstanding performances rather than being interested in them for their good looks.

Representation of men in the film come across as being strong and powerful, they don't like things going the way they didn't plan them to, for example Sir Laurence Olivier doesn't like how Marilyn keeps turning up late to record their film therefore he gradually builds up his anger and stress and tells her what he thinks which shows the powerfulness of his character. However although men come across as strong there are exceptions such as Colin who always seems to be loving and caring, for example how he's always there for Marilyn when she needs him most.
